Slingshots Hockey Development Program
Novice, Atom, PeeWee, Bantam & Midget Teams
Our "North" division was first introduced in our 2006-2007 hockey season as an option for league members wanting to advance their hockey development at a higher level of play and discipline and character development for both on and off the ice. We focus on skills appropriate to age and skill level for hockey through regular practice and exhibition games - occasionally outside our league. The powerplays (devotionals) have been carefully selected to work on developing character in the areas of Integrity, Service, Teamwork and Excellence. Our "North" division currently comprises of one team in each division Novice, Atom, PeeWee, Bantam, Midget age groups.
Our North division teams are know as the "BCHL Slingshots" with the name being a reference from 1 Samuel 17 in the old testament, the story of David and Goliath. This is a great image for us of what God can do through us when facing seemingly impossible odds.
Novices played 4 solid games and battled hard. All the games were competitive and full of energy just didn’t get the puck to go where we wanted it – their net.
Atoms had an exciting tournament. this is the first year we had two Atom Slingshots teams and ended up with both teams playing for the Championship with a 3-2 result. looked like it might go to shoot out. Way to go Slingshots Dark.
Peewees are really starting to gel as a team and played with so much heart losing first two games 1-0. The team rallied to a tie in the consolation round and win in overtime. Great finish.
Bantams also played hard and really started to develop some of their systems and managed a win in the round robin play. Great start to a season against some teams that have already played a lot of hockey together.
Midgets lost their first game and then never looked back. Congratulations on winning the Championship with class in a division that at times got a little heated.
